来源:教材第17页
The earliest people in Britain were hunter-gatherers. Around 6,000 years ago, the first farmers arrived from southern Europe. They built monuments such as Stonehenge in Wiltshire, which was constructed over many centuries. Skara Brae on Orkney, Scotland, is one of the best-preserved prehistoric villages in northern Europe. Britain was connected to mainland Europe by a land bridge until about 10,000 years ago.
