The Opposition and Shadow Cabinet
反对党与影子内阁
来源:教材第86页
The second-largest party in the House of Commons is called the Opposition. The Leader of the Opposition usually becomes PM if their party wins the next General Election. The Leader challenges government failures — notably at Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs), which takes place weekly when Parliament is sitting. The Leader appoints senior opposition MPs as 'shadow ministers' who form the Shadow Cabinet — their role is to challenge the government and put forward alternative policies.
