House of Commons and MPs
下议院与议员
来源:教材第76页
The House of Commons is the elected chamber of Parliament. Each Member of Parliament (MP) represents a parliamentary constituency — a small area of the country. MPs have responsibilities to represent constituents, help create new laws, scrutinise government, and debate national issues. The Prime Minister and most cabinet members are MPs. MPs are elected by 'first past the post' — the candidate with the most votes in each constituency wins.
