英国地标:大本钟与伦敦塔

来源:教材第59页

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the Houses of Parliament; the tower was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 for Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. The Tower of London was first built by William the Conqueror after 1066; tours are given by Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) and the Crown Jewels are displayed there. Other landmarks include the London Eye (a 135-metre Ferris wheel on the Thames), the Eden Project in Cornwall, Edinburgh Castle, and the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
