Bank holidays are public holidays when banks and many businesses are closed. Besides Christian festivals, they include: early May bank holiday, late May (or early June) bank holiday, and August bank holiday. In Northern Ireland, the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne (12 July) is also a public holiday. Bank holidays are of no religious significance.
