Guy Fawkes Night and Remembrance Day

Guy Fawkes Night (Bonfire Night) is celebrated on 5 November with fireworks and bonfires. It commemorates the failure of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Guy Fawkes and others attempted to blow up Parliament.
Remembrance Day is on 11 November, remembering those who died in wars. At 11am there is a two-minute silence. People wear red poppies. The main ceremony is at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London.
