The Wars of the Roses (1455–1485)

The Wars of the Roses were civil wars between two rival families: the House of Lancaster (red rose) and the House of York (white rose), both claiming the right to the English throne. The wars ended in 1485 when Henry Tudor (Henry VII) defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field. Henry married Elizabeth of York, uniting the two houses and founding the Tudor dynasty.
