Chapter 1 · Values & Principles

Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs

Source: Handbook p.6

Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs is one of the fundamental principles of British life. The UK is a diverse society where individuals are free to follow any religion or none, and everyone is expected to respect the beliefs of others. Extremism and intolerance have no place in British society. This value is reinforced by laws protecting freedom of religion and outlawing discrimination based on belief.
