To apply for permanent residence or British citizenship, applicants must pass the Life in the UK test AND provide acceptable evidence of English speaking and listening skills at B1 level. Test certificates come only from approved test centres — there are about 60 registered centres in the UK. You need identification and proof of address when taking the test.

ਪੱਕੀ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ (permanent residence) ਜਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਤਾ ਲਈ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਬਿਨੈਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ Life in the UK ਟੈਸਟ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ B1 ਪੱਧਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਦਾ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੇਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਟੈਸਟ ਦੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਟੈਸਟ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ (approved test centres) ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ — ਯੂ.ਕੇ. ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ 60 ਰਜਿਸਟਰਡ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਹਨ। ਟੈਸਟ ਦੇਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ (identification) ਅਤੇ ਪਤੇ ਦਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
