Cricket and The Ashes
Cricketul și The Ashes
Sursă: Manual p.65
Cricket originated in England and is played worldwide. Games can last up to five days but may still end in a draw. The complex rules are said to reflect British fair play. The most famous competition is The Ashes — a series of Test matches played between England and Australia, with its origins in a satirical obituary in 1882 when Australia first beat England. Expressions like 'sticky wicket' and 'it's just not cricket' have entered everyday English.
