Jane Austen and Charles Dickens

Jane Austen (1775-1817) was an English novelist whose books on marriage and family relationships include Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility — many adapted into films and TV. Charles Dickens (1812-1870) wrote famous novels including Oliver Twist and Great Expectations. His characters have entered everyday language: Scrooge (a mean person) and Mr Micawber (always hopeful). Both are among the most widely-read British authors in history.
