Joseph Turner (1775-1851) was an influential landscape painter in a modern style, credited with raising the profile of landscape painting — the Turner Prize (established 1984) for contemporary art is named after him. John Constable (1776-1837) was a landscape painter famous for his scenes of Dedham Vale on the Suffolk-Essex border. David Hockney (1937-) is a major contributor to the 1960s 'pop art' movement who continues to be influential today. Henry Moore (1898-1986) was a sculptor famous for large bronze abstract sculptures.
